Timeline

January 22, 2015 -  Jim and I made the decision to adopt! Shortly after this day, we began planning to share the news with our parents and family! Our parents were so shocked they actually asked us, "Are you adopting a human?" Yes, our parents thought we were adopting a dog and were pleasantly pleased to hear that we were actually perusing the adoption of a child!

April 11, 2015 - We submitted our official application for the Burundi Program to All God's Children International 

 April 14, 2015- Our application for the Burundi Program through All God's Children International was officially accepted! 

April 17, 2015- Conference call for orientation for All God's Children International 

May 7, 2015-  We made our commitment to adopt official by signing the contact and getting all the pages notarized! 

May 11, 2015-  We mailed in our contract and 1st payment to All God's Children International 

May 16, 2015- We mailed in our application and application fee for our Home Study today to St. Elizabeth/Coleman Pregnancy and Adoption Services. 

June 3, 2015-   1st home study meeting at St. Elizabeth/Coleman Pregnancy and Adoption Services in Indianapolis. We will also have our Dossier orientation phone conference on this day with All God's Children International.  

June 4, 2015-  Jim and I started to create our to-do list for our home study and dossier! We also began to feel led to really start sharing our puzzle fundraiser with people! 

June 5, 2015-  Jim went to order his passport.  

June 12, 2015- Jim and I had our medicals and local background checks completed today. Jim always loves when we get shots!  

June 15, 2015- We completed and emailed our Autobiographical Outlines, Me As a Person, and Adoptive Parents Inventory for Transracial/Transcultural Adoption forms into St. Elizabeth/Coleman Pregnancy and Adoption Services for our home study. 

June 17, 2015- Jim had a conference call with All God's Children International today while I was gone. They were checking in on our progress and giving us our next assignments to keep on track! 

June 30, 2015- We received our 1 of 5 reference letters today from Diane Woodworth. We also mailed in our Child Protective Services History Check. We talked with my best friend LesLee about her willingness to sign our Guardianship document for our home study. Thankfully she's willing! :) We mailed the document to her that needs to be completed and submitted to our agency. We also purchased the 8 online courses that we're required to take. 

July 1, 2015- We had a conference call with All God's Children International today. We had some questions and they gave us our next tasks to complete! We were able to get our Financial Statements to our Home Study agency which means they will be assigning our social worker to us soon! We also sent in our Employment Verification Letters. We received our 2nd of 5 reference letters today.  

July 6, 2015- We received our 3rd out of 5 reference letters today. 

July 7, 2015- Glued together our first of three puzzles today! Mod Podge is amazing!  

July 8, 2015- We scheduled our first social work visit today! :) We also were finally able to schedule of appointments with the psychologist! Things are progressing well. We are even feeling good as of right now about our next payment!  

 July 9, 2015- An old friend from high school offered to open a online 31 party to help raise money for our adoption! We'll get 20% of the sales. The sale will end on July 19th! 

July 10, 2015- Ordered a notarized copy of our marriage license from Hendricks County.

July 13, 2015- We had our first visit from our social worker today. She was awesome and really made the afternoon feel stress free. She interviewed us together then separately then took a tour of the house. She will be back on the 22nd for our last visit. She wants to have our home study completed by the end of the month. 

July 14, 2015-  We hosted a prayer night for the Burundi Elections that were supposed to be tomorrow, but have been postponed again. :( We had some members of our small group over for snacks, fellowship, and prayers.  Continue to keep the citizens or Burundi in your prayers as well as our future child that is somewhere in Burundi!  

July 15, 2015- We had another conference call with All God's Children International. We're on track to turn our paperwork in on September 14th as long as we can secure the next payment by then! Our next big assignment is getting our online education completed, this has to be a priority.

July 17, 2015-  We meet with the psychologist today. We each had an individual interview session with her and then took a Brief Symptom Inventory Assessment. 

July 18, 2015- We ordered our long birth certificates for VitalCheck today as well as completed 4 out of 8 our our required online courses! The courses we completed are: Adopting the Older Child, Conspicuous Families, Let's Talk Adoption, and Medical Issues in International Adoption. 

July 19, 2015- We closed our online 31 Fundraiser, can't wait to see how much we can put towards our 2nd adoption payment from this! We also completed three more of our required online courses. We completed: Discipline and the Adopted Child: Ain't Misbehavin', Finding the Missing Pieces: Helping Adopted Children Cope with Grief and Loss, and The Journey of Attachment. 

July 22, 2015- We had our final visit from our social worker for our home study. We answered remaining questions she had and reviewed her report. Our home study report will not be sent to All God's Children International for official review. 

July 29, 2015- Conference Call with All God's Children International. We also received Jim's passport in the mail today!

August 1, 2015- We received our final reference letter from Brett Baranic today. Our paperwork is really starting to wrap up! 

August 3, 2015- Jim picked up our report from our psychologist today.  

September 2, 2015- Our home study was officially approved!  

 September 16, 2015- Sent our documents to Indianapolis to be Appostilled. 

September 19, 2015- Recieved our documents back from Indianapolis. We had one error. 

September 28, 2015- Send a letter with an error to the state again to be Appostilled. 

September  28, 2015- OFFICIALLY MAILED IN OUR DOSSIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

September 30, 2015- Mailed the corrected letter to AGCI

October 6, 2015- Our Dossier was reviewed by All God's Children International and accepted! They will be getting it ready for Translation as we wait to hear from Immigration. 

October 10, 2015 - First Photo Shoot where proceeds go towards our adoption!

October 11, 2015 - Noonday Fundraiser
